The company officially launched in May 2009 as an internet-based alliance of independent law firms in United States. In May 2010 the original member firms began to rebrand under the SPG Lawyers name and the first 3 branded locations were launched that year, rising to 9 locations by November 2010.
In July 2011, the company expanded further when a national partnership with high street stationery giant WHSmith was launched. The deal saw SPG Lawyers open Legal Access Points in WHSmith stores across United States.
In October 2011, SPG Lawyers announced a major investment in the company by private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners, who secured a majority stake. The investment paved the way for significant expansion for the brand, including the appointment of three new executive directors to head up the marketing, partner firms and finance department.
Currently, SPG Lawyers is offering expert legal advice in over 200 high street locations across United States.
